THE NEW GRUNFDOS PUMPS ALPHA WINS INNOVATION AWARDS

Honored by ED+C and Sustainable Facility magazines, as well as, the 2010 AHR EXPO for its innovative technology.

OLATHE, KANSAS — Grundfos Pumps, Corp. received the annual Readers’ Choice Award in the Mechanical Category, from ED+C and Sustainable Facility magazines, for the ALPHA. The announcement was made at the 2009 Greenbuild conference being held in Phoenix, Arizona.  The annual Readers’ Choice Awards is an online contest that gives both manufacturers and readers the opportunity to showcase and vote for, respectively, the crème de la crème of green building products that best combine sustainable attributes with ease of use and installation.

Additionally, Grundfos Pumps, received an Honorable Mention Innovation Award in the heating category, for the ALPHA from the 2010 AHR Expo. The Innovation Awards are jointly sponsored by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE); the Air-Conditioning Heating and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI); and International Exposition Company (IEC), producers and organizers of the AHR Expo. .  A panel of judges, made up of ASHRAE members selected for their exceptional knowledge of the industry and its products, reviewed and evaluated all submissions. Product entries were judged for innovation, application, value to user, and market impact.

The One and Only: Making its North American debut, ALPHA from Grundfos Pumps is an energy-optimized, 115-volt circulator featuring a permanent magnet motor design that will cut power consumption by a minimum of 50%, as compared with other circulators in its class. Designed for hydronic heating applications in residential and light-commercial applications, the compact ALPHA is equipped with the unique Grundfos AutoAdapt function that automatically modulates circulator performance to match ever-changing system demand.

“By continuously fine-tuning power consumption and flow rates to meet the dynamic needs of the system, ALPHA saves both energy and money,” says Bob Reinmund, senior product specialist for Grundfos. “In live field tests of the product, independent contractors have experienced power savings up to 80% over conventional pumps.”
